The Town of Thompson has closed on a $34.7 million financing and grant package for the rehabilitation of the Kiamesha Lake Sewer Treatment Plant. This project will bring the plant into compliance with current EPA and NYS standards and improve efficiency and service to district residents and businesses.
We have secured $19.3 million in federal and state grants covering over 56% of the project cost with the balance financed at zero interest. The Town is aiming to go to bid later this year with construction to start in 2025.
“Like many municipalities across America, Thompson faces an aging sewer and water infrastructure. Rehabilitating the Kiamesha Lake plant is necessary to ensure many more decades of reliable and efficient service to residents and businesses. There should be minimal impact to your service during construction,” said Town Supervisor William J. Rieber, Jr.
This Kiamesha Lake plant project is one of several major sewer and water projects totaling $65 million that are currently in the works. Additional projects are scheduled for the Harris, Rock Hill, Sackett Lake, and Melody Lake Districts in the near future.
