The Town is on a mission to create a #TrashFreeThompson and they’re calling on the public to help. Everyone is invited to join in a community litter pluck on May 1st from 9am until noon, which will take place along Hamilton Road.
The Town will provide garbage bags and will pick up bags of trash once they have been filled. Participants must wear masks and social distance during the event. Parking is available at a bungalow colony about 300 feet off Forestburgh Road on the righthand side of Hamilton Road.
“We hope the community joins us in making Thompson look its best. After a litter pluck, Town roads look so much better! This sends a strong message to everyone driving through our Town: this is a great place to live, work, and visit,” said Town Supervisor Bill Rieber, Jr.
Joining the litter pluck is also a chance for people to discover what it’s like to adopt a road. The Town Adopt-a-Road program is officially underway. Individuals, groups of people, businesses, and other organizations can adopt a road for free. Once adopted, the road should be litter plucked a few times a year. The Town then provides a custom sign on the road that announces which group has adopted it. Roads are adopted in stretches that are no longer than 2 miles. For details, please contact:
