The Town of Thompson is excited to announce the opening of Marshalls in the Thompson Square Mall located at 4058 State Route 42 in Monticello, this Thursday March 25th.

The store’s opening is the result of many different organizations working together to move Thompson forward in economic development, attracting the attention of national retailers like Marshalls.

“Being a business-friendly town doesn’t just happen. We’ve made it a strategic priority. Our policies, approvals process, zoning, and overall development approach empower existing businesses to grow and thrive – while encouraging new and outside businesses to open up in Thompson. That’s what we mean when we say we’re moving #ThompsonForward,” explained Town Supervisor Bill Rieber, Jr.

The Town worked hand-in-hand with everyone from the developers to the contractors to make it streamlined and efficient for Marshalls to open their doors. For example, the Town collaborated with Thompson Square Mall over the past two years to improve traffic flow and safety. A new entrance and stop signs were added in anticipation of continued growth in visits to the Mall.

Another way that Thompson is moving business forward is by improving accessibility and “curb appeal” of main commercial zones through the Grow the Gateways initiative. The Exit 105 gateway leads to Route 42, which Thompson Square Mall and Marshalls are located on. This gateway has been upgraded with new, branded Thompson banners throughout the Route 42 corridor. Custom landscaping and large welcome signs have transformed the Exit 105 interchange and the Route 42 intersection. At the same time, businesses along the Route 42 corridor are implementing the Town’s design guidelines to up their own curb appeal.

“The signs of growth and forward momentum are everywhere you look in the Town of Thompson. We’re putting our best foot forward, and that’s getting noticed by Marshalls and other major retailers and brands – which are on the horizon,” added Rieber.
