Dear Neighbors and Friends:
I have been receiving some inquiries about ongoing construction activities and there are some inaccurate Face Book comments. Certain activities are permitted, if only to close in an already in progress project to “Make Safe”. Additionally, jobs with only one-person working are permitted. Our Building Department is working with contractors in implementing plans to bring projects to a safe and weather tight situation before shutting the job(s) down. One such project is the new Marshall’s building in Thompson Mall and the new hotel behind McDonald’s. Inaccurate comments on social media only stir the pot and make life difficult for our building inspectors who are working very hard under difficult conditions. We have cited several illegal construction activities and will continue to do so, including working with the NYSP and Sheriff if we do not get compliance.
