Thompson has announced the Fall Clean Up dates for 2023. Starting September 5th, Town of Thompson residents can pick up a voucher good for $20 of disposal (or up to $20 off of disposal fees) at the Monticello Transfer Station-Landfill. You can pick up your voucher to get this free service at the Town Clerk’s Office starting September 5th, 2023.

To take advantage of this service, residents must acquire vouchers from the Town of Thompson Clerk’s Office. These vouchers will have a raised seal, which will be the only valid voucher accepted at the Transfer Station. For questions, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 845-794-2500 ext. 302. Below are details related to Fall Cleanup.
The voucher entitles the resident to a credit of posted rates (click here to see the rates) at the Monticello Transfer Station of up to $20 for disposal of:
-Construction & demolition (C&D) waste, and bulky waste weighed at the scale
-Tires
-CFC-containing appliances such as refrigerators, freezers and AC units (doors MUST be removed, and all food removed!)
-Propane tanks
-CRT televisions
The voucher CANNOT be used for:
-Anything not listed above
-Houshold garbage/coupon books
-Commercial use (no account holder vehicles)
-Weight ticket service fee
-Fluorescent bulbs
Other important details:
-Any costs over the $20 voucher are the responsibility of the voucher bearer and must be paid at the station at the time of disposal
-There will not be a credit or refund if the disposal cost is less than $20
-Vouchers shall not be transferred, sold, or aggregated by commercial or private haulers
Items Accepted During Cleanup as C&D and Bulky Waste:
- Wooden furniture
- Plate glass
- Plastic toys
- Plastic appliances
- Scrap wood & building debris
- Ceramic toilets and sinks
- Mattresses
Items ALWAYS Free at Transfer Station
These items can be accepted for FREE when brought directly to the transfer station. Separate these items out so they do not count towards your C&D and bulky waste!
- Scrap metal
- Textiles
- Electronics that are NOT CRTs (old style CRT TVs are $15)
- Recyclables, bottles, cans, glass containers
- Separated paper (office paper, newspaper, cardboard)
- Small batteries (see attendant for collection container)
Fees for Items That Can Go Towards the $20 Voucher
- Tires ($3 for small $30 for large)
- Freon/CRC units/appliances (AC, refrigerators, dehumidifiers, etc.) ($15 each)
- Propane tanks (20 lbs. or smaller, $2 each)
- CRT TVs ($15)
Items NEVER Accepted During Cleanup or at Transfer Station
- Yard waste
- Liquids
- Hazardous waste
- Household hazardous waste (collection days available)
- Tanks and drums unless cleaned and open
- Asbestos
- Explosive/ammunition
- Car batteries
- Radioactive material
- Medical waste/sharps
- Prescription medication
